Armor Guide — Defense, Sets & How to Gear Up

• There are NO set bonuses in Crimson Desert — matching a set label is purely cosmetic. Mix and match freely based on stats
• No equip-load penalty exists — full plate armor gives max defense with zero speed drawback. Don't sacrifice defense for mobility
• Armor slots: Headgear, Chest, Gloves, Footwear — plus cosmetic extras: Cloak, Glasses, Mask, Inventory (backpack)
• Some pieces grant status immunities (Daze, Confusion) or elemental resistances (Ice, Fire, Lightning) — these are often more valuable than raw defense
• Defense softcap hits around 150 — past that, the per-point value drops sharply. Prioritize elemental resists and stat amplifiers at that point
• Abyssal Dragon set is endgame BiS, crafted at Grimnir's Kuku Shop. Frostcursed for Ice Resist, Scorchflame for Fire, Blackwing for Lightning + unarmed crit

Notable Armor Sets

• Canta Plate — best starter set. Solid all-around defense, accessible early in Hernand before boss farming becomes viable
• Frostcursed — strong Ice Resistance. Prioritize if you're fighting Ice-heavy bosses in Pailune and surrounding regions
• Scorchflame — Fire Resistance specialist. Useful for fire-element boss encounters in later chapters
• Blackwing — Lightning resistance + crit stat amplifier for unarmed builds. Best support set if you main Bare Hands

Armor Upgrading Tips

• Same refinement system as weapons — any Blacksmith, 10 levels, materials only (no Silver). Prioritize chest slot first
• Level 5+ refinement requires Abyss Artifacts on armor too — same gate as weapons
• Status immunity and elemental resist bonuses on armor are FIXED — refinement doesn't increase them, but they're always active
